Peter and the Wolf is a short story set to music by the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. Each of the characters in the story is represented by a different instrument. Peter and the Wolf lasts about 25 minutes and is an ideal introduction for children to instruments of the orchestra.

The BBC website has a wealth of information about a range of pieces presented so as to appeal to children and young people, and also to provide learning resources for teachers. THREE of those pieces are included in this concert. Click on the red buttons in the list below to hear the piece and find out more about it. This will take you to the BBC website.
