Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra:

Excellence

It has been said that Suffolk Philharmonic is “Suffolk born, internationally bred”. Some of the UK’s very finest orchestral musicians mingle with the most exciting younger professionals, bringing playing of outstanding calibre to Suffolk venues. See a rehearsal of the Beethoven Violin Concerto here.

Community

SPO Community Concerts make fine music free, in village halls across the County. Enjoy lunch or afternoon tea, an hour of fabulous music when you are so close you can feel the energy of the players, and maybe have a lift to your door. See the finale from a Community Concert here

Education

Groups of SPO players visit primary and secondary schools across the County, demonstrating instruments and playing alongside children and young people. There’s nothing quite like the sound of four string players with twenty early woodwind! See the “demonstration” section of a school visit here.

New to Suffolk Philharmonic? Here’s a taste of what people say:

A devoted member of the  Vaughan Williams Society wrote to say that he collects recordings of RVW symphonies, and owns 30 CDs of the ‘London’ Symphony, along with a dozen LPs and even some 78s. He wrote: “Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of Vaughan Williams’ ‘London’ Symphony was one of the best I have heard. Absolutely superb. RVW would have loved it.”
